A notebook kept by Karl Marx in 1868 on The Economist, a couple of episodes in the history of spirit photography, the infamous photographs of bank queues in 2007, and an image found at “the beginning of the photo-illustrated press” are brought together in an attempt to capture the space that separated financial journalism from photojournalism as they emerged in the nineteenth century.
